Parenting Circle with Michelle Hogan LMFT
Raising children these days is becoming increasingly complicated. With access to endless amounts of information, more demands, higher expectations, higher stakes, the stress on our children and on us is taking its toll. All of us as parents want most of all to keep our children safe and to provide them with a sense of belonging in this world. When our child's emotional safety or sense of belonging is threatened we often react and panic. This emotional response leaves us vulnerable to the "expert" advice, the latest theory, diagnosis, medication, nutritional trend. All of these things are valuable and have a rightful place in the dialogue, but the exploration should never begin or end there. As parents, we need to reclaim our authority. There is a knowing, a wellspring of wisdom we can access when we attune to the powerful bond between parent and child. In this Parenting Circle, you will learn skills to facilitate this inner knowing as well as how to use that knowledge to navigate the tricky terrain parents face whose children don't easily fit the typical mold in one way or another. This circle is an opportunity to deepen your connection to yourself, and your child, as well as find the support of a community of parents that understand. The skills you will cultivate in this circle will provide a strong foundation of self-trust to empower you in advocating for your child, as well as having a sense of what help is the right kind of help for your specific child.
When: Wednesdays at 11:00-12:30pm

HypnoBirthing®
HypnoBirthing® is as much a philosophy of birth as it is a technique for achieving a satisfying, relaxing, and stress-free method of birthing. This amazing program teaches you, along with your birthing companion, the art and joy of experiencing birth in a more comfortable manner. You will learn how to call upon your body's own natural relaxant and thus lessen, or even eliminate, discomfort and the need for medication. When a woman is properly prepared for childbirth and when mind and body are in harmony, Nature is free to function in the same well-designed manner that it does with all animal mothers in Nature.
In this comprehensive childbirth education course you will be fascinated as you view HypnoBirthing® films, showing laboring mothers, awake, alert and in good humor as they experience the kind of gentle birth that you, too, can know when you are free of the fear that causes pain and tension. Through self-hypnosis, special breathing, and visualization, HypnoBirthing® teaches you to release all prior programming about birth, how to trust your body and work with it, as well as how to free yourself of harmful emotions that lead to pain-causing fear and unyielding muscles.
This course will be taught over five weeks, meeting once a week.
When: Friday 6:30-9pm 3/27-4/24
Investment: $450

Elizabeth Miller
Liz is excited about all things pertaining to integration of the Self. She believes that each one of us has a deep desire to make sense of our experience and connect with our innate wholeness. Liz is trained at the 500hr level as a yoga teacher and is certified as a birth doula, prenatal yoga teacher and HypnoBirthing® childbirth educator. She is currently completing a master's degree in psychoanalysis.
While completing an internship in a psychosocial clubhouse program, Liz wondered what it would be like to be able to work with people when their earliest experiences were being formed, before the personality hardened in ways that would manifest later in life as unwellness. This inquiry led to birth, a rock she had never turned over. What she found is that the earliest experiences of a person are really the early experiences of the family unit, and that a supported, confident and connected family during pregnancy and birth means greater wellbeing down the road. Further study in birthwork has only amplified Liz's passion for supporting mothers and partners in their birth journey, believing that this helps to heal the mother wound of our world and ensure the wellness of future humans.
